Theatre-In-The-Park was founded in 1998 to stage local, regional and international plays. Located in Harare Gardens, in Harare, Theatre-In-The-Park is a model of professional theatre hosting an array of plays from different writers and production houses. Throughout Southern Africa the history of the theatre is well documented, attracting several major plays that are staged every season. The collaborations are a critical component within Theatre-In-The-Park with the productions staging at provincial, national and the Southern African Development Community region where various artists engage in exchanges to ignite the growth and development of visionary concepts. While providing a platform for the development of new talent the theatre has in recent years deliberately gone all out to cast the crème-del-crème of theatre as we develop a commercial thrust for Theatre-In-The-Park. Hitherto unknown at Theatre-In-The-Park were film actors whom we now cast for theatre in our quest to remove the historical restrictions that tended to confine film actors to the silver screen and theatrical actors to the stage. Theatre-In-The-Park has two seasons between January-May and August-December. Under the unit is the National Touring Programme, which takes on country tour some of the plays premiered at Theatre-In-The-Park.
